Viral Marketing

Viral marketing is a low cost highly effective method to drive targeted traffic to a web site. At it's simplest Viral marketing is creating an email or stimuli and then encouraging one person to send it to ten contacts, and then getting those ten contacts to each send it to ten more and so on.

To an extent, the forwarding of jokes or images to friends is a good example of (sometimes unconscious) viral marketing.
Viral marketing is good for brand awareness and direct sales. The offered item, though, must be oriented to getting the recipients names and addresses to be used for direct marketing.

Viral marketing is becoming more and more sophisticated; but once you have a good campaign the results are excellent.
